I highly recommend Catherine for her hard work and dedication at Onix Aviation. Catherine joined Onix in November 2021 as a graphic designer, creating many great graphic design projects. Over time she took on more responsibilities, successfully delivering branding projects for big aviation companies. Currently, Catherine manages our entire operations department while still handling branding strategy work. Catherine is passionate about her work, always gives her best and continues to grow in her career. She is a valuable member of our team, and I have no doubt she will achieve even more in the future.
Career highlights
Since I was a kid, I was always the artistic one in class, but no I wasn’t into drawing or painting. I remember I loved collecting and pasting poster ads. I realise I have been intrigued by the way they were relaying the message that selling does not sound and look like they are selling you their products, it is how marketing, design, and strategy work together in shaping brands, and influence perception.
This unique perspective and curiosity led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in advertising where I explored different departments of a marketing agency, from accounts, research, copywriting, design, and production.
My journey took a major leap when I moved from the Philippines to Dubai during COVID-19, starting as a Junior designer at Onix Aviation Agency. With no prior Middle Eastern experience, I learned everything hands-on, driven by my passion for learning and self-development pushed me to grow fast. Over time, I took on a bigger role that included handling branding strategies, leading creative teams, and managing client accounts, eventually growing into my current role as brand strategist and creative director.
Guiding principles
I’ve always believed in levelling up every single day, just aiming to be 1% better than yesterday. I constantly push myself to grow by joining different groups and clubs like Toastmasters, running clubs, and marketing and design. Lately, I’ve been exploring how AI can be integrated into my creative work, and how to maximise it to improve my skills and my output. In this fast-paced world, the only way to stay alive is to stay curious and keep learning. I’m also passionate about raising the standard of Filipino creatives in the Region, I strongly believe that our talent belongs to the global stage.
